Robin Fry - Painting & Sound

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we need to postpone 'Robin Fry: Gardens' to the near future. 

During the exhibition date, Jan 30 thru Mar 8, we will exhibit 14 paintings and 14 sound pieces (67 min.) by Robin Fry as ‘Robin Fry solo-show.’

Hiromart Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Gardens, an exhibition of new paintings by Robin Fry, a Berlin-based Canadian artist who is known as an abstract painter and performing artist.

The show Gardens, his third solo-exhibition in Japan following the previous show, features oil paintings especially produced for this show.

Besides Robin Fry’s original sound pieces that he recorded for this show Gardens will be played as an Audio Installation through the show.

Artist Statement

These recent paintings are abstract and semi-abstract works inspired by the natural world both actual and imagined. The main focus in the work is put on the color relationships, texture and composition. While I do this I am considering what emotive effects are being achieved, it is my intent to keep the energy positive.

Born in 1976 in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. He studied painting at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Receiving his BFA from NSCAD in 2002 he moved to Toronto where he focused on producing and exhibiting painting, sculpture and video.

In 2009 he moved to Berlin and is currently living and working in Berlin, Germany.

Robin Fry is an active artist and his artworks has been shown in galleries in Vancouver, Toronto, Tokyo and Berlin through the solo exhibitions, two person exhibitions and group-exhibitions since 1999. He was also involved with various experimental music groups.

His debut exhibition in Japan was held in 2012 with Hiromart Gallery in Tokyo.
