Artist Statement for Disconnected Pattern
I work for a long time on this body of work, collage, trying it out with color ink, black and white ink and inserting cut outs, going back to it time and again, for the last six years. It was by no means an intellectual decision that, one day, led me to say to myself that, finally, I had it. I have a much more personal and instinctive method: I physically uncomfortable until I find a way to create my poetry.
I detest the crossed line, dots, marks, that turn back on itself. Once, looking at my latest attempt, my discomfort left me and was replaced by happiness. I picked up my brush and drew the line, dots and strokes. But I didn't consider it definitive until after another month of silence.
