Ki Yoon Ko - Paintings

Hiromart Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Prism, an exhibition of new paintings made for the show by Hamburg-based American artist Ki Yoon Ko. Following his well received collaborative shows held 2010 and 2011 with Hiromart Gallery, this time we are delighted to present Ki Yoon Ko’s debut solo-show in Japan.

Ki Yoon Ko is an American artist currently living and working in Hamburg, Germany. His artworks has been exhibited in both solo and group shows, also his artworks has been shown in Art Fairs throughout Europe, United States and Asia. Ki Yoon Ko is known for photorealistic paintings in which he did a series called Suzi. He has a unique technique using a brush and graphite powder in which he flicks the powder onto the canvas layer by layer to capture a remarkable expression. In 2011, he started a new series of paintings and was well received at a solo show in Raum 21 gallery in Hamburg.

Ki Yoon Ko will be doing a whole new series for the Hiromart Gallery titled Prism.

Concept: Prism

The main point of this series is that I play with lines in the forms of triangle, square, circles... and many, many colors. I really want to explore what shapes I can come up with. Most of the images will include animals, object and human figures.

Ki Yoon Ko

Ki Yoon Ko Studied Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, Ca, Illustration at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and Painting & Printmaking at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va.

His first solo exhibition was held in San Francisco in 2000. With this as a beginning of his art career, he exhibits internationally at variety group and solo shows held in Europe, United States and Asia. Since 2005, his paintings are presented at the International Art Fairs such as Art Brussels, Arco Madrid and so forth.
