Artist Statement on Battle:

I was born and raised in Northern Japan, Kitami in Hokkaido where the woods and the river meet the city. While playing outside during my childhood, I was always absorbed in thought over popular video games and toys. I enjoyed adding my own ideas. I wrote all my ideas down in a notebook by pencil. This habit made me good at drawing, and so I got accepted to an art university. Many painters inspired me and I tried a variety motifs and techniques. However none of them suited me. In recent years I back to my childhood roots using my favorite technique. With this, I think I found originality, my style. I use oil paint and canvas. The technique I use is; first draw the shapes in black and white on a brown tonal underpainting, then use transparent oil paints for the colors. With this technique and motif, I explore colors and shapes in a picture.
