Artist Statement on Riverside Paintings:
Riverside, a village developed in 1869 by Fredrick Law Olmstead, the same landscape architect who designed Central Park in New York City, is located fifteen miles from the Chicagoland border. This area has been my home and source of inspiration for the past twenty years. Within this village, my work has focused on the different views found along the Des Plaines River and winding streets. I have painted and drawn from direct observation motifs, such as massive maple and oak trees, to suburban homes with neatly kept lawns and trimmed bushes. This choice of subject matter is constantly engaging in depicting specific and vibrant imagery.
