Hiromart Gallery is pleased to present Walkthrough – the 4th solo exhibition of works by Masanobu Sakakibara.
In recent years, Masanobu Sakakibara pursues the depiction of imaginary video game scenes with rich, deep colors, as well as light and dark shadows by using traditional painting techniques. Following his solo show; Battle (2020), Standby (2021), and Don’t be afraid (2023), this exhibition is mainly composed of small canvas pieces; featuring 43 works of new oil paintings which describes a variety of video game scenes with a theme of Walkthrough.

Artist Statement on Walkthrough:
In my works, I am aiming to merge my longing of the traditional techniques of oil painting from the Renaissance to the Baroque period and to the Modern Art of the west, with my childhood favorite of video game scenes. My recent issue is the common knowledge of surviving. So, I put my thoughts into this series of new works. However, the show title on this time is Walkthrough.

Born in 1981 in Kitami, Hokkaido.
He studied painting at Kanazawa College of Art in Ishikawa pref., and graduated in 2004.
Currently lives and works in Saitama pref.
In 2019, his work accepted for the Shell Art Award exhibition.
Hiromart Galery curated his solo exhibition in 2020, 2021, and 2023.
